Gum disease is a serious problem among humans.  Dental professionals tell us that approximately 75% of people have some gum disease. 

Many people mistakenly think that gum disease is an aging disease.  This is actually not the case.  You can be 6 years old and have it.

I personally, experienced this problem.   I was told by my dentist that I needed to have a special treatment for my gums called a Scaling and Root Planing treatment. 

This is also called a 'deep cleaning treatment' or simply SRP.   This treatment involves scraping and planing below the gum line. 

The cost for this treatment can vary but perhaps the average to do all four quadrants of one's mouth is about $1600. 

I did not like the sound of the treatment as it was described to me.   I did not want it. 

I knew I had to find another answer.

I used it for about 5 months before my next dental checkup.  Fortunately, it worked for me.  The same dentist confirmed that I did not need that treatment any longer.

The best practice for utilizing the Hydro Floss is to use it twice per day with two reservoirs per use.   I used it more than this at the time that I had my problem.

Later, I found out that the best practice is 4 full reservoirs per day.   Based on what I have heard from many customers, this does indeed seem to work best. 

For those who do not use it to this degree, they find that their results can vary.  

When you have gum disease you typically have periodontal pocket depths above 3mms.   3mms (millimeters) and below is generally considered healthy by most dental health practitioners. 

Your dentist or hygienist should be measuring these depths and telling you what they are on every visit.  This number is your baseline. 

You measure what you are doing at home against the improvement or lack thereof those depths. 

Hopefully, after using the Hydro Floss for a few months, you will see a reduction in those depths.  This is what you are looking for.

Generally speaking, most dental health practitioners will say that your gums are healthy if you can keep those periodontal pocket depths at 3mms and below.  

This was said in general terms only.  You should direct any questions about your unique dental health situation to your dentist or hygienist. 

The power of the Hydro Floss has been documented by researchers in the Journal of Clinical Periodontology.  The studies were published in May of 1993 and in April of 1998.
